Then sign up and verify your email. Once you've done that, choose one of the options along the top (lobby, players, teams etc...) and fill in the filters. When you find what you're looking for, leave a comment or add them on steam and see if they want to play with you. Being apart of a team has helped me get from silver to DMG because we have been able to win games with teamwork. It has also helped me improve in many different ways. Basically this is the best way to improve and rank up, in my opinion.
