What happened to FO4 Character

So the main character in Fallout 4 is said to be the 'sole survivor'....

I'm so confused... so he survived the blast and is walking around right after the bombs? (Generations before the other fallout games?)

Or did he get cryogenically frozen or something...

Cause the world would be way to radiated to inhabit right after the bombs... and full effects of radiation probably wouldn't be apparent right away... I don't think brahmin grew a second health overnight...

Other fallout protagonists were born within the post apocalyptic time... so the time line is really confusing me here...

just remember the vaults were at times pretty messed up places so your theory on cryogenics may be plausible. as for the rest I dunno but by keeping people like us guessing Bethesda are making sure were all interested in the game well before it launches
