There is a glitch in The Forest that allows you to free fall off cliffs without taking any damage.
If you are wanting to get to the bottom of the crater without dying repeatedly and you do not own the climbing axe to get down safely then all you have to do is, open up your inventory on the edge of the cliff and act like you are walking forwards, you will fall right off the cliff and still have all your heath when you reach the bottom!
Remember not to close the inventory while you are still in the air so just have it open for a few minutes until you think you have reached the bottom.
